Prayer of Hope

Prayer of Hope
By Education for Justice

I believe that behind the mist the sun waits.

I believe that beyond the dark night it is raining stars.

I believe in the secret volcanoes and the world below.

I believe that this lost ship will reach port.
They will not rob me of hope,
it shall not be broken,
it shall not be broken.

My voice is filled to overflowing with the desire to sing,
the desire to sing.

I believe in reason and not in force of arms.

I believe that peace will be sown throughout the earth.

I believe in our nobility,
created in the image of God,
and with free will reaching for the skies.
They will not rob me of hope,
it shall not be broken

My Inspirational person

Have you ever wondered buying a ticket to Heaven? How can you get it? Well, I know a woman that gained one. She used to go out on the road to help out with the people that suffered from a fatal and contagious disease called Leprosy. She was a caring woman that devoted herself to help the poor and sick people. And that woman was Mother Teresa. I don’t know if you’ve heard about her before but I’ll tell you anyways. As I was saying, she was born on August 26, 1910 but her birthdate was disputed to August 27, 1910.

As you can see, she displays the qualities of a role model and an inspiring person.  For example, She was self-giving. Mother Teresa chose to give all her belongings to the poor and to live a life of poverty. She even helped the people in need and comforted them when they were uncomfortable or unwell. Would you do this?

She also had the courage to do the right thing. Mother Teresa knew she had to help the poor because she felt a calling from God that she should become a nun and to be a service to the poor. So she obeyed what God had told her to do, becoming a catholic nun and a missionary.

She inspires me because she thinks of people first. She shows this by helping the poor and aiding the unloved, the unwanted and the uncared. Not only that, she did it happily and cheerfully. Once, Mother Teresa was awarded $192,000 but instead of her having the large amount of money, she gave it to the poor because she knew how the poor felt to be poor. How would you feel if you were poor? Having to starve and find shelter. Probably not what you’d call a lifetime dream. Right?

Doing what God has told her, inspired many people, including me. She won 18 awards for doing this. The awards include ‘The Nobel Peace Prize’ and ‘The Order of the Smile’. I think she deserves the awards because of her hard work in assisting the poor. You think so?

She is a person that I would consider an inspiring person. She helped the poorest amongst the poor and displayed all the good qualities of an role model, while helping them. If you want to be just like Mother Teresa, helping the poor. In that case, you will get the chance of getting a ticket to Heaven!

China

Have you ever been to the never-ending Great Wall of China or even the beautiful Tibet? This country is located in the east of Asia. China is 9,600,000 sq km in landmass and it is the third-largest country in the world, only next to Russia and Canada. Countries bordering China are Korea, Mongolia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tadzhikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam. China is the world’s most populous country with 1.28453 billion at the end of 2002, one-fifth of the world's total.

The capital of China is Beijing. Beijing is one of the world’s greatest cities. Peking duck, delicious dumplings and awesome noodles are some food that you would encounter in Beijing. Da Dong Roast Duck is one of the famous restaurants in Beijing. The nation’s top artists, writers, movie-makers and musicians tend to meet in Beijing.

In China, chinese people usually use Renminbi (RMB)/yuan as money. Many people get confused about what to call the ‘chinese money’. The languages spoken in China are Standard Chinese or Mandarin, Yue (Cantonese), Wu (Shanghainese), Minbei (Fuzhou), Minnan (Hokkien-Taiwanese), Xiang, Gan, Hakka dialects and other minority languages. Many people in China speak Mandarin since it is the standard chinese language.

The religious worshippers in China are Buddhism, Christian, Catholic and Taoism. The national anthem of China is the March of the volunteers. The president of China chosen in 2003 was Hu Jintao but the president selected in 2013 is Xi Jinping.

The giant panda was considered China’s treasure. Over 1,000 of the pandas live in the wild, most of them are found in Sichuan Province. China does not have an official flower but tree peony was considered the national favourite. The tree peony had the most votes national flower. However, the oldest tree in the world is China’s gingko. It appeared in the jurassic age, 160 millions years ago. The bird, Shaanxi Province’s red ibis has been China’s treasure too. It is a rare bird that decreased its population very fast.

The beautiful Great Wall of China was built 206 BC. To be honest, Great Wall of China is one of the greatest sights in the world. As you can see, the wall was not only built for beauty, it was built as watch towers and an integrated military defensive system. It was also built to avoid invasions from the northern nations. Soldiers, peasants and even rebels were forced to build the Great Wall of China with stone, soil, sand and brick. Sometimes, they even used the sticky rice to hold the bricks together. The Great Wall of
China has been the icon and the symbol for China. In the Ming Dynasty, the Great Wall of China was reconstructed and been made stronger and more sophisticated. But years later, some of the Great Wall of China disappeared because of erosion and human damage. This structure attracts hundred and millions of tourists.

Building a Bridge

Building a Bridge

Problem:
The problem was to construct a strong bridge that can hold 2 Duct tape for 1 minute.

Materials:
  • 10 straws
  • 2 A4 paper
  • 1 Pipe Cleaner
  • 1 cardboard roll
  • 1 meter tape
  • 1 meter string
  • 1 Scissor
  • 1 meter ruler

   Procedure:

1.We measured the cardboard roll.
2.We then cut it and placed it around 1 A4 paper (base).
3.After that, we taped the cardboard rolls onto the A4 paper which is the base of the bridge.
4.We folded the second A4 paper horizontally at the  ends of the paper to make the rails.
5.Then we connected 2 straws together for the rails. We did this two times.
6.We taped the rails on the both folded ends of the other A4 paper.
7.Then we got a straw and stuck it horizontally in the middle of the rails.
8. We attached a string that came down from the horizontal straws and the rails.
9. After we attached the string, we stuck some straws on the folds of the paper so it can support the span.
10. Then we stuck the paper onto the cardboard rolls.
11. We then tested our bridge by placing the 2 Duct tape on it. We timed it for 1 minute and it survived. It went a little over a minute.

Conclusion:
We conclude that in order for our bridge to be strong and sturdy, it needs a lot of support on the top and on the bottom. When there is pressure on the top, it helps make the bridge stronger.

Chocolate vs. Child Labour

Have you ever wondered who collects all the cocoa nibs that are made into delicious and mouth-watering chocolate?

Children, like us are being forced to work in cocoa farms, just to make our favourite treats… chocolates. Boys, at the ages from 12 to 16 have been kidnapped and forced to work in cocoa farms. Not only that, they get physically and emotionally abused when they are slow or even when they refuse to work.

This is a big issue because the children children are forced to work under inhumane conditions and extreme abuse. The boys are mainly from Mali and other countries in West Africa. They were enslaved and kidnapped to work.

Did the manufacturers care? They just ignored the issue because they are more concerned about the profit and economic gain.

I think this issue should stop and not go on because all children have rights.
